Terms & Disclosures
Last updated May 25, 2026
TargetAtlas provides beach metal detecting intelligence, forecasts, Hunt Briefs, maps, alerts, and educational content. The service is designed to help you make better decisions, but it does not guarantee finds, access, safety, legal permission, or any specific outcome.
You are responsible for deciding where and when to hunt, following local laws, respecting posted rules, filling holes, avoiding protected areas, and using good judgment around weather, tides, surf, traffic, wildlife, and other people.
Forecasts, scores, maps, alerts, and Hunt Briefs are guidance based on available data. Conditions can change quickly and data sources may be incomplete, delayed, or unavailable.
Free accounts may access the features currently included in the free tier. Paid or founding memberships may unlock additional features such as enhanced Hunt Briefs, maps, alerts, multi-day forecasts, or future covered regions.
Membership features may evolve as TargetAtlas grows. We aim to improve coverage and functionality over time, but we may adjust features, data sources, or availability when needed for reliability, cost, safety, or product quality.
Paid memberships are processed through Stripe. Billing terms shown at checkout apply to your purchase. You can contact us for help with cancellations, accidental purchases, suspected duplicate charges, or billing questions.
If you are unhappy with the service, believe you were double charged, or purchased by mistake, contact us promptly. We will review the situation in good faith and may issue a refund or credit where appropriate, especially for duplicate charges or clear billing errors.
Refund decisions may depend on timing, account activity, payment processor rules, and whether the charge appears accidental, duplicative, or disputed. This policy is meant to be fair, not adversarial.
See the Billing Support policy for plain-English cancellation, duplicate charge, and refund guidance.
TargetAtlas is not legal, safety, meteorological, maritime, or professional advice. Rules and access restrictions vary by beach, town, park, state, season, and agency. Always verify local rules with the relevant authority before detecting.
TargetAtlas scores are decision-support guidance generated from stored source snapshots, public/coastal datasets, model data, and local context where available. They are not guaranteed real-time conditions, guaranteed finds, safety clearance, or a promise that a beach is legal or appropriate to hunt.
Source data can be delayed, unavailable, incomplete, or wrong. Always verify surf, weather, access, posted rules, beach closures, and local hazards before committing to a trip.
If you use the Hunt Journal, you may choose to save notes, categories, condition scores, zones, and photos. Journal entries are intended to be private to your account unless TargetAtlas later offers explicit sharing controls that you choose to use.
TargetAtlas may use anonymous aggregate activity signals, such as how many hunts were logged for a beach or zone, to improve scoring. We do not need to publish your personal notes or exact finds to use aggregate community signals.
Storm-window signal alerts and push notifications are optional. You can choose which beaches to follow and can disable alerts in the app or through your browser settings. Alerts may be delayed, missed, or unavailable depending on browser permissions, device settings, network conditions, or service outages.
We collect account information needed to operate the service, membership and billing identifiers from payment processing, optional journal/photo content you provide, and usage data needed to maintain and improve TargetAtlas.
See the Privacy Policy for more detail about account data, journal content, aggregate signals, and alerts.
We do not want unnecessary sensitive information. Please avoid placing private personal details, exact home addresses, or sensitive third-party information in notes or submissions.
TargetAtlas may change, pause, or discontinue features, data integrations, covered beaches, pricing, or policies as the service develops. We will try to communicate meaningful changes clearly, especially for paid membership features.
For billing issues, refund requests, duplicate charge concerns, account questions, or policy questions, contact us through the TargetAtlas contact page.
